MEET DOMINIC GLOVER (See Images Below): Dominic Glover’s journey as an artist began like that of many others: with an idea that he brought to life. Since 2013, Dominic has worked as a professional illustrator and graphic designer, creating works that have been published and licensed by renowned companies such as Marvel Entertainment, Warner Brothers, Tezuka Productions, Hulu, Netflix and many more. In recent years, he has been featured as an artist at various Anime and Comic Conventions, including the Middle East Film and Comic Convention in Dubai, Anime Boston, and Anime Expo in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his career, Dominic has maintained a focus on creating art that brings people together. Each of his art pieces serves as a bridge, connecting individuals from different backgrounds and all walks of life. MEET DOMINIC GLOVER (See Image Below): Dominic Glover’s journey as an artist began like that of many others: with an idea that he brought to life. This year, we’re so excited to welcome Gina and Stephen Grimm, who, after a stint in L.A have returned to Jacksonville to share insights from their almost 30 years of combined experience in the creative industry.

Gina Gimm: Gina Grimm is a graphic designer and creative director with over 14 years of experience specializing in branding, content, marketing, and packaging for consumer goods. Her passion lies in the beauty industry, where she has spent the past decade launching independent skincare and cosmetic start-ups, as well as celebrity and influencer brands, including Tyra Beauty by Tyra Banks, JLo Beauty by Jennifer Lopez, and Kind Science by Ellen DeGeneres.
As a champion of women, Gina focuses her client base on female-founded businesses and entrepreneurs. After earning a B.A. in Fine Arts with a concentration in graphic design & digital media from UNF, she kicked off a successful 10-year stint in Los Angeles, CA and has since returned to Jacksonville, FL where she now freelances.

Stephen Gimm: Stephen Grimm is a Visual Effects Artist with 15+ years of experience spanning animation, motion graphics, and CG. He brings imagination to life on TV shows, commercials, and movies. After graduating from UNF in 2010, he moved to LA to start working for studios. While there, he developed his knowledge through collaboration and hands-on experience. Stephen’s work can be seen of some shows such as “Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Mythic Quest,” and “The Patient.” He has also crafted captivating visuals for major brands like Nike, Audi, and Subaru, with commercials seen both nationally and internationally. Now freelancing from Jacksonville Beach, FL, Stephen collaborates with clients on a range of projects.

AIGA Jacksonville invites you to attend the 35th Annual Student Portfolio Review! Design students or designer’s looking to refresh their portfolio will be be paired with local design professionals for feedback on your final portfolios or works-in-progress.

All Portfolio Review entries include lunch, light snacks, beverages, and free entry into our portfolio review speaker event.
How it works:
Professionals and educators from the Jacksonville area volunteer their Saturday to review portfolios in a one-on-one setting. Reviewee’s will have the opportunity to practice interview skills, get constructive feedback on their work and gain insight into the industry as they’re matched up with reviewers who will share feedback based on their years of experience. Snacks, refreshments, and lunch will be provided to all students and reviewers.
Portfolio Competition: Students may elect to enter their portfolio into a judged competition. Our judges are our reviewers, including AIGA members representing all facets of the design community. Award categories include best of show, best in print and best in digital. Winners will be announced via AIGA social channels directly after the event.
Speaker Event: On the evening of Friday, April 12th we will be welcoming Gina and Stephen Grimm as our Portfolio Review speakers! With Gina’s focus on graphic design and creative direction, specifically in the areas of beauty and female-founded businesses, and Stephen’s experience in animation, motion graphics, and CG, they are sure to set an inspiring tone leading up the review! Who Should Attend?
- Students: Recent and soon-to-be graduates are invited to participate in the Student Portfolio Review. Undergraduate, as well as graduate students, are encouraged to attend.
- Professionals: Are you reworking some projects? Looking to pivot in your career? Just want a fresh set of eyes on your work? Portfolio Review is an opportunity to network and have your work reviewed by your peers.
- Reviewers: Anyone with at least two years of industry experience is welcome to be a reviewer! You will be reviewing student portfolio’s in a one-on-one setting and will see approximately 3-5 students during the review. Reviewers can sign up for half-day (9:30-12:30 or 12:30-3:30) or full day (9:30-3:30) sessions.
Be Prepared:
Students: Your goal for the review is to present your work and get constructive feedback. In order to make that happen, you need to be prepared. Finished portfolio presentations are best, whether it’s a custom book, black matte boards in a leather portfolio or an interactive presentation—the choice is yours. If you do intend to show digital pieces, we recommend bringing a laptop or tablet and, to be safe, make sure your work is on your local hard drive, not just online. Those of you still in the throes of creating a one-of-a-kind portfolio are also welcome, as it’s never too early to get constructive feedback.
While this isn’t an interview, this is a chance to make connections and make a lasting impression. Be sure that a lasting impression is based on a “Wow!”-worthy book and not a “Wow?!”-worthy wardrobe. Business casual dress is encouraged. Other suggestions include getting a good night’s sleep, taking a shower, combing your hair and, of course, brushing your teeth is optional.
Relax, and have fun! The review doesn’t have to be stressful. Students are here to get constructive feedback on your work and reviewers are here to help however they can!
Reviewers: Come prepared to give constructive and helpful feedback, and to answer any questions students may have. Interested in being a reviewer? Register via our tickets section to help students improve their portfolios.

MEET NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARTIST ADAM MICHAELS (SEE IMAGE BELOW): a self taught traditional artist working primarily with ink and watercolor as well as other mixed medias such as acrylic paints, coffee and red wine. Adam travels and exhibits his art worldwide and his work can be found in distinguished galleries such as Chicago’s Gallery F and Los Angeles’s Gallery 1988. When you check in at the event, simply use your phone to show us you shared the event & you will be given your choice of a free print. Limit 1 Free Print per individual who shared Event. WHAT DO I GET WITH THE $10 VIP TICKET? VIP ticket holders will be allowed 30 minute early access to the event prior to opening the doors to the public + a specialty 12″x16″ print of your choice (valued at $40) in addition to the 9″x12″ print.
IS THIS EVENT COMPLETELY FREE? Yes, no purchase whatsoever is necessary. VIP ticket is completely optional.
WHAT WILL THE ARTISTS DO? The artists will be signing any of their artwork purchased at the show. For any canvases purchased, the artists will also add paint hand embellishments/highlights to the canvas, essentially turning it into its own, one of a kind original, at no additional charge. This is an added service that Disney artists typically charge $250 for but it’s complimentary at the show as a means of the artist thanking you for supporting their art.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE COSPLAY CONTEST? Cosplay is completely optional but if you choose to cosplay, we will be having an overall contest each of the 3 days of the event. 1st Place receives a 24″x36″ Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $295. 2nd Place receives a Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $125. 3rd Place receives a 12″x16″ paper print of their choice valued at $40. Judging will take place the following dates and times: Friday at 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm. Winners are required to be present at the event for at least 1 hour and make themselves available for free photographs with attendees. There is no age requirement to participate. The judges will consist of the Amazing Art Expo crew and artists. Contestants are not required to check in. Simply show up. Members of the Star Wars 501st Legion are excluded from the contests. Prizes are subjected to inventory available at the event only.

Cosplay is completely optional but if you choose to cosplay, we will be having an overall contest each of the 3 days of the event. 1st Place receives a 24″x36″ Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $295. 2nd Place receives a Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $125. 3rd Place receives a 12″x16″ paper print of their choice valued at $40. MEET MEGAN WITHEY (See Images Below): a national and international renowned fantasy and pop culture watercolor artist and book illustrator known for her unique and vintage aesthetic. Not only are her princess paintings some of the most famous on the internet, but she will be exhibiting her new travel inspired collection in Paris, Dubai and Tokyo this year. MEET NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ARTIST ADAM MICHAELS (SEE IMAGE BELOW): a self taught traditional artist working primarily with ink and watercolor as well as other mixed medias such as acrylic paints, coffee and red wine. Adam travels and exhibits his art worldwide and his work can be found in distinguished galleries such as Chicago’s Gallery F and Los Angeles’s Gallery 1988. Adam has been licensed and recognized by franchises such as Ozark, Ghostbusters, Firefly and more as well created art and clothing lines for Ghost Adventures’ Aaron Goodwin.
He creates fine original art as well as pop culture fueled pieces which have been labeled “nerd art you can hang in your living room”. Bringing a modern, high end feel that is approachable by collectors and non-collectors alike and spanning all ages, Adam takes inspiration from both the light and dark of life as well as his love of a robust realm of pop culture including Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Mortal Kombat, Star Wars and all things horror.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):
HOW DO I GET MY FREE PRINT? Tag a friend on Instagram or SHARE the event on your Facebook timeline or Instagram pg by April 20th. When you check in at the event, simply use your phone to show us you shared the event & you will be given your choice of a free print. Limit 1 Free Print per individual who shared Event. Artists will not sign free prints.Click Here to share the event on Facebook.
WHAT DO I GET WITH THE $10 VIP TICKET? VIP ticket holders will be allowed 30 minute early access to the event prior to opening the doors to the public + a specialty 12″x16″ print of your choice (valued at $40) in addition to the 9″x12″ print.
IS THIS EVENT COMPLETELY FREE? Yes, no purchase whatsoever is necessary. VIP ticket is completely optional.
WHAT WILL THE ARTISTS DO? The artists will be signing any of their artwork purchased at the show. For any canvases purchased, the artists will also add paint hand embellishments/highlights to the canvas, essentially turning it into its own, one of a kind original, at no additional charge. This is an added service that Disney artists typically charge $250 for but it’s complimentary at the show as a means of the artist thanking you for supporting their art.
HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE COSPLAY CONTEST? Cosplay is completely optional but if you choose to cosplay, we will be having an overall contest each of the 3 days of the event. 1st Place receives a 24″x36″ Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $295. 2nd Place receives a Premium Canvas of their choice valued at $125. 3rd Place receives a 12″x16″ paper print of their choice valued at $40. Judging will take place the following dates and times: Friday at 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday at 4 pm. Winners are required to be present at the event for at least 1 hour and make themselves available for free photographs with attendees. There is no age requirement to participate. The judges will consist of the Amazing Art Expo crew and artists. Contestants are not required to check in. Simply show up. Members of the Star Wars 501st Legion are excluded from the contests. Prizes are subjected to inventory available at the event only.
IS THERE ANY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (A.I.) ART AT THIS EVENT? Absolutely NOT! All our art sold on our website and featured at our show was created by human hands and made in the USA. We do not believe A.I. art is actually art and we stay firm with this decision.
ARE KIDS ALLOWED? This event is 100% Kid & Stroller Friendly!
WHAT ARE YOUR TERMS OF USE AND PRIVACY POLICY? Amazing Art Expo collects information from you when you register on our site, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter, respond to a survey or fill out a form.
